PROCESS FOR SEARCHING FOR HYDROCARBONS IN A GEOLOGICALLY COMPLEX BASIN USING BASIN MODELING

- Method for mapping a complex sedimentary basin. - A mesh representative of the current basin architecture is constructed. A mechanical and three-dimensional structural restoration is applied to reconstruct the past architectures of the basin, from the actual to a geological time t. Then we perform a simulation of the geological and geochemical processes that control the installation of a petroleum deposit, directly in the meshes resulting from the restoration, from the geological time t to the current one. This simulation is then used to map the sedimentary basin, so as to identify areas of the basin in which hydrocarbons may have accumulated. Application in particular to the exploitation of oil fields, for example.
