PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic sintered body having a surface formed with a hard coating film with an adequate film thicknesss and increased adhesion for realizing an increased wear resistance and long life, a coated ceramic sintered body, a cut insert and a cutting tool.;SOLUTION: The ceramic sintered body 1, mainly composed of non-conductive ceramics and including carbides, nitrides and carbonitrides of tungsten and/or titanium as electrically conductive hard components, is cocated with a ceramic hard film 2 by a physical vapor deposition method to prepare the coated ceramic sintered body by which the cutitng insert 3 is made. With the ceramic sintered body 1 having electrical conductivity, the physical vapor deposition method enables the ceramic hard film 2 to be formed on a surface of the ceramic sintered body with the adequate film thicknesss to have strong adhesion. Accordingly, the cut insert 3, made of the coated ceramic sintered body, can realize an increased wear resistance and long life.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
