PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which avoids remarkable delay in solidification which is a cause of a breakout just below a mold, and powder entrainment which causes sliver defects.;SOLUTION: Magnetic flux density is measured at the center of the mold thickness direction on a narrow surface 1a in a mold. A magnetic field of which the vertical component B [T] for the narrow surface 1a in the mold is 0.05 or more is formed from an application commencing position M1 [mm] where a meniscus distance M [mm] is 100 to 300 to an application terminating position M2 [mm] where the meniscus distance M [mm] is 300 to 500 and in addition, so that the distance ΔM3 [mm] from the application commencing position M1 [mm] to the application terminating position M2 [mm] is 150 to 400.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
