IN-VEHICLE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND MAP DISPLAYING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "in-vehicle navigation system and map displaying method" which enable plain display for a user of route guidance at the start of running of a vehicle.;SOLUTION: The in-vehicle navigation system equipped with functions of searching for a guiding route to the destination and guiding the vehicle along the guiding route has a display means, a storage means wherein map data are stored, a driver's own vehicle location detecting means which detects the current location of a driver's own vehicle and a control means which makes the display means display on a screen a detailed map image which is formed, with a reduced scale adjusted, of a map of the area around the current location of the driver's own vehicle wherein the guiding route is shown, for a prescribed period from the start of the driver's own vehicle. The prescribed period may also be a period till a prescribed time passes, a period till the vehicle runs over a prescribed distance or a period till the vehicle runs along the guiding route.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
