METHOD FOR DISTINGUISHING BIPOLAR DISORDER AND SCHIZOPHRENIA

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for distinguishing and diagnosing schizophrenia and bipolar disorder objectively in a high precision by using patient blood as a specimen. PSOLUTION: The method for distinguishing the schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is provided by using the expressed amounts of specific 12 kinds of genes in a specimen separated from a living body as indices. It is possible to distinguish and diagnose the schizophrenia and bipolar disorder objectively in the high precision. Use of a number of actual specimens demonstrates that both sensitivity (true positive rate) and specificity (true negative rate) of detection become ≥ 80%.
