PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction in encoding efficiency with regard to a method for displaying the size, shape and position of a region in a digital image, an encoder and a decoder or the like when the shape of the region and a growth rate at the start of encoding the decoder are displayed.;SOLUTION: In the method of displaying the size, the shape and the position of the region in the digital image which is divided into a set of blocks, at least one value of size parameter for displaying several blocks in the region of the digital image is defined, and at least one value of shape evolution parameter for displaying the order of selecting the blocks in the region is selected. Preferably, in order to display the size, the shape and the position of the region in the digital image, at least one value of the size parameter and at least one value of the shape evolution parameter are encoded, and a bit stream of a video sequence is generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
