PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene naphthalate fiber obtained by adding fibrous alumina and having excellent strength, modulus, thermal shrinkage resistance and alkali resistance.;SOLUTION: The polyethylene naphthalate fiber is obtained by melt-spinning a polyethylene naphthalate composition containing fibrous alumina particles which satisfy the following conditions (1) to (3) in the polyethylene naphthalate in which the main repeating unit is ethylene-2,6-naphthalate, and which satisfies the following conditions (4) and (5): (1) the average fiber diameter and the average fiber length of the particles of the fibrous alumina particles are 5-15 nm and 70-200 nm, respectively; (2) the specific surface area of the fibrous alumina particles is 50-250 mm2/g; (3) the content of the fibrous alumina particles based on the whole mass of the polyethylene naphthalate fiber is 0.2-4.0 wt.%; (4) the intrinsic viscosity of the polyethylene naphthalate is 0.55-1.50 dL/g; and (5) the content of diethylene glycol based on the whole mass of the polyethylene naphthalate fiber is 0.2-4.0 mass%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
