PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching apparatus which suppresses an increase in variation in amount of deformation or strain occurring in material to be treated.;SOLUTION: The quenching apparatus 1 is provided with an oil vessel 5 stored with quenching oil Y, a placing stand 8 for placing the materials W to be treated on the upper surface thereof and a conveying device 6 for dipping the materials W to be treated into the quenching oil Y. The quenching apparatus 1 is further provided with delivering hole 7c for delivering the quenching oil Y upward at the bottom part of the oil vessel 5a and a circulating device 7 for circulating the quenching oil Y.
