PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress interference and reduce overshoot by designing adequate control gain even when rolling speed is varied in the control of plate thickness and tension in a rolling mill.;SOLUTION: The plate thickness and tension control method is directed for enabling plate thickness on the outlet side of a downstream stand and tension between two stands to follow respective target values while suppressing mutual interferences in two continuous stands. Control gain of plate thickness and tension control system is changed based on rolling speed of a rolling stand. In detail, the control gain of the plate thickness and tension control system is calculated by an ILQ design method which updates a control object model for allowing plate thickness of a rolling material and interference system of interstand tension to be modeled and uses reduction of an error between the updated control object model and an actual control object.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
