PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of coding moving image and a method of coding motion-compensated moving image having an adaptive motion accuracy, including a motion vector computing technique of high pixel accuracy without entailing significant increase in calculation amount. PSOLUTION: The method of coding moving image includes: a motion vector search step of searching each of a plurality of blocks that divide an image, for a motion vector; a motion-compensating step of performing motion compensation using the motion vectors having a plurality of fractional accuracies; and a coding step of coding the fractional accuracies and the motion vectors. The fractional accuracy is the same for all the motion vectors within one frame, while different accuracies are applied to different frames. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
