PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snowfall observation apparatus and a snowfall observation method which can facilitate automation of observation operations and obtain highly reliable observation results.;SOLUTION: The snowfall observation apparatus 1 includes: a support 2 extending in the vertical direction; a first observation wave emitting means 3 which is provided on the support 2, emits a first observation wave W1 which can penetrate snow, and detects the first observation wave W1 reflected by a reflective layer 14; a reflective layer formation means 4 which is provided on the support 2 to form the reflective layer 14 on a snow surface 12; and an arithmetic means 3 which calculates the depth of the snow on the reflective layer 14 using the detection result about the first observation wave W1 by the first observation wave emitting means 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
