PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calibrating method for a bulging detection device which can perform calibration of a bulging detection device while keeping production efficiency of a slab, and to provide a dummy bar used therefor.;SOLUTION: In the calibrating method for a bulging detection device 10 for detecting bulging generating in the short side of a slab S drawn in continuous casting, regarding a rugged pattern formed on the face of the short side of the slab in a dummy bar 1 for drawing the slab, using a millimeter wave signal, a distance between range finder heads 11, 12, 21, 22 and the short side of the slab to which each range finder head faces is measured, and on the basis of the measured result, the calibration of the bulging detection device is performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
