METHOD FOR CLEANING UNDERGROUND WATER CONTAINING NITRATE NITROGEN

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method which can be applied to actual underground water containing nitrate nitrogen by specifying a forming method of a pervious wall composing a water cleaning body and conditions of a filter material. PSOLUTION: In the method for cleaning underground water containing nitrate nitrogen by detoxifying underground water contaminated by nitrate nitrogen, the pervious wall is formed by mixing a filter medium, a sulfur based inorganic agent, of indeterminate forms with particle sizes of 1-50 mm and broken stones with particle sizes of 1-100 mm in a layer of underground water containing nitrate nitrogen, the underground water containing the nitrate nitrogen is passed through the pervious wall, a nitrogen content is discharged as harmless nitrogen gas (NSB2/SB) by sulfur oxidation denitrifying bacteria in the pervious wall.
