PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new micro ring-like inorganic oxide particles each having a through-hole. PSOLUTION: The micro ring-like inorganic oxide particles are characterized in that the average outer diameter (DSBO/SB) is in the range of 10 nm to 20 m, the average diameter (DSBI/SB) of through-holes is in the range of 1 nm to 12 m and the ratio (WSBR/SB)/(DSBO/SB) of the ring width (WSBR/SB) to the average outer diameter (DSBO/SB) is in the range of 0.2-0.45. The method for producing the micro ring-like inorganic oxide particles includes subjecting an inorganic oxide sol having an average particle diameter of 3-100 nm to spray drying and then treating the obtained particles with an acid or a base to form the through-hole. The method for producing the micro ring-like inorganic oxide particles includes using multiple oxide fine particles comprising silica and an inorganic oxide other than silica, then removing the inorganic oxide other than silica by using an acid, and treating the resulting particles with an acid or a base or subjecting the resulting particles to a hydrothermal treatment to form the through-hole.
