PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molecular weight measurement method capable of stably measuring a molecular weight of the polyimide precursor, especially a polyamic acid by inexpensive and simple treatment with sufficient reproducibility, and a purification method for a polyimide precursor.;SOLUTION: In the purification method for the polyimide precursor, purification is performed by gel permeation chromatography using the polyimide precursor being subjected to hemiacetal esterification by reacting a vinyl ether compound with the polyamic acid.
