When a traveling distance summing unit 11c determines that the shift lever position meets a specified condition, it sums the optimum shift lever position driving distance. If the traveling distance summing unit 11c determines that the shift lever position does not meet the specified condition, it sums a less-than-optimum shift lever traveling distance. A fuel-efficient driving rating unit 12 rates operation by the driver, based on respective summed values summed by the traveling distance summing unit 11c. A fuel-efficient driving advice generator 13 announces fuel-efficient driving advice to the driver according to the rating results, together with the rating results.
