PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of an ultrasonically modulated light tomography apparatus.;SOLUTION: The ultrasonically modulated light tomography apparatus has a measurement light irradiating means for irradiating a subject part with measurement light and an ultrasonic wave irradiating means for irradiating the subject part with ultrasonic waves, and acquires a tomographic image of the subject part on the basis of detection signals of ultrasonically modulated light modulated by interactions between the measurement light and the ultrasonic wave within the subject part. Tomographic information is acquired by detecting heterodyne signals due to modulation of the measurement light and the ultrasonic wave and analyzing the frequency of the heterodyne signals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
