PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metal powder for powder metallurgy, which easily produces the metal powder that is suitably used for powder metallurgy while surely preventing the production of an intermetallic compound even if the metal powder has the composition which is easy to produce the intermetallic compound when the molten metal is cooled and solidified, and to provide the metal powder for powder metallurgy, which is produced by the method for producing the metal powder for powder metallurgy and can surely produce a dense sintered compact because a component constituting each particle is uniform and homogeneous.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the metal powder for powder metallurgy includes the steps of: obtaining the molten metal 32 by charging a metal material containing an transition-metal element as a major component and at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Zr and In as a subcomponent into a supplying part 3; and scattering the molten metal 32 in a water layer 241 (a swirling flow) which has been formed by jetting water into a cylinder 2 of a metal powder production apparatus 1 by making the molten metal 32 pooled in the supplying part 3 collide with the water layer to cool and solidify the molten metal at a cooling rate of 105 K/sec or more.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
