PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nucleic acid sequences including expressed sequence tags, oligonucleotide probes, polypeptides, antibodies, vectors and host cells expressing immunoadhesins, agonists and antagonists to human and patched-2. PSOLUTION: There are provided an isolated nucleic acid molecule having at least 80% sequence homology to a DNA molecule encoding a patched-2 polypeptide or a complement of the DNA molecule and having biological activity of patched-2, a vector containing the DNA encoding the human patched-2 polypeptide, and a host cell containing the vector. A method for producing the patched-2 polypeptide including culture of the host cell under a condition suitable for the expression of the patched-2 and the recovery of the cultured product from a cell medium, the isolated patched-2 polypeptide, and a method for using the patched-2 for the treatment of diseases partially mediated by hedgehog (Hh).
