PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic amine salt of (2S)-2-benzylsuccinic acid monoester having a high optical purity useful as a raw material for producing a medicine and to provide a method for producing the organic amine salt of (2S)-2- benzylsuccinic acid monoester. ;SOLUTION: A compound of general formula I (R1 is a lower alkyl) is catalytically reduced in the presence of a BPPM-Rh complex to give a compound of general formula II, which is reacted with an organic amine of the general formula R2-NH2 (R2 is tert-butyl, cyclohexyl, 2-phenylethyl or benzyl) to give a compound of general formula III.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
