PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purifying technology in a sewer pipeline for optimizing sewage supplied to a sewage treatment plant so that it may be suitable for biological treatment in the sewage treatment plant. PSOLUTION: Water purifying apparatus 1, 20 for a sewer pipeline have water flowing fixed beds 5, 21 arranged at the bottom part in the sewer pipeline so as to be submerged in sewage and allowing nitrifying bacteria to be settled, and oxygen supply means 9, 23 for supplying oxygen into the fixed beds. The water flowing fixed beds on which the nitrifying bacteria can be settled are arranged at the bottom part in the sewer pipeline and submerged in sewage, and oxygen is supplied into the fixed beds to promote breeding of nitrifying bacteria in the fixed beds.
