PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems wherein though nanoparticles showing various particular excellent aspects, characteristics, and functions can be synthesized advantageously using supercritical and subcritical water reaction fields, in the reaction field of supercritical water conditions, the synthesis is limited to metal-oxide system nanoparticles due to the oxidizing power of water. PSOLUTION: When nanoparticles are synthesized from nanoparticle precursors at the reaction field under elevated temperature and pressure, and wherein water is present at the reaction field an organic modifying agent and a reducing agent are present together, and a nanoparticle synthesis reaction and a nanoparticle surface modification reaction are carried out, to prepare metal or alloy nanoparticles, in which organic groups are combined on the surface of the produced nanoparticles.
