PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article comprising a hybrid surface for promoting dropwise liquid condensation.;SOLUTION: The article has an array 300 comprising a plurality of raised structures 302. A plurality of raised structures 302 have at least one geometric shape, and also have a hydrophobic surface 305. A plurality of hydrophilic pores 304 are interspersed between a plurality of the raised structures 302 of the article. There are disclosed a method which forms a hydrophobic surface for promoting the condensation of dropwise liquid 306, 309 and a heat transfer device comprising a hybrid surface for promoting the condensation of the liquid drops 306 and 309.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
