PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently leaching copper from copper sulfide ore containing copper pyrite at an increased leaching speed and also at a high leaching ratio. PSOLUTION: The method is provided for leaching copper from copper sulfide ore containing copper pyrite with the use of a leach liquor while air is charged therein, wherein as the leach liquor, an iron sulfate aqueous solution is added to a deposition layer composed of the copper sulfide ore, and further, and until the completion of the leaching excepting the time directly after the start of the leaching, the concentration of oxygen in the air present in the deposition layer is controlled to 10 wt.%.
