PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently generate a design description of software or hardware of high quality and superior execution efficiency.;SOLUTION: The design description rewriting device includes a means for inputting a set of type specification description for specifying at least one of the type of return value of the first function and the type of the return value of other first function which is called within the first function, for each of at least one of the plurality of first functions in design description; a means which selects a second function which is called within one or more other first functions from among the plurality of first functions, and determines the type including such type as designated by the type specification description corresponding to each of the second function and one or more other first functions, as the type of return value of the second function, for determining the type designated by the type specification description corresponding to the third function as the type of return value of the third function different from the second function; and a means for rewriting the design description so as to designate the types determined for the return values of the second function and the third function.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
