PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hoisting machine for an elevator which can be easily installed in a small space.;SOLUTION: A stator winding 18 is provided in an internal peripheral surface of an opening edge part 3 in a bowl-shaped recessed part of a frame unit 2, a main shaft 17 is vertically provided in a bottom surface of the recessed part. A bowl-shaped rotor 19 of similar shape to the frame unit 2 is arranged in a fitting condition thereto and pivotally supported to the main shaft 17, a drive sheave 20 is formed in an external peripheral surface of the bowl-shaped rotor 19 in a side of the recessed part bottom surface of the frame unit 2, an armature 21 is provided in an external peripheral surface in a side of the opening edge part 3, a brake surface 22 is provided in an internal peripheral surface. Both ends of a support plate 15 are tightened to the opening edge part 3, a brake 23 is mounted in the support plate 15 to be arranged in a recessed part of the bowl-shaped rotor 19, the brake surface in an inner surface of the bowl- shaped rotor 19 is braked. The brake 23 is thus arranged in the recessed part of the bowl-shaped rotor 19, by protruding no member from the external periphery of the frame unit 2, external dimension can be lessened so as to save a space for installation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
