PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for producing synthesis gas, the catalytic metal of which is utilized effectively when synthesis gas is produced, the deterioration of which can be prevented since the amount of carbon to be deposited on this catalyst is small and the side-crashing-strength of which is improved and hardly deteriorates after this catalyst is used for producing synthesis gas.;SOLUTION: This catalyst is prepared by using a molding of fired magnesium oxide as a carrier and depositing ruthenium (Ru) of 10-5,000 wt-ppm in terms of the metal amount on the carrier so that ≥85 mol% of the total amount of the deposited ruthenium (Ru) is deposited at the depth of 0 to 1,500 μm from the outside surface of the molding of magnesium oxide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
