A functional roll incorporating a lattice-shaped fluid (gas-liquid) guidepath structure (8) made of high-density porous sheet material (300) to activate the internal pressure of the roll axis (4), whereby the lattice-shaped fluid (gas-liquid) guidepath structure consists of an internal pressure action space (1) made of a cut-out portion provided on the circumference of the roll axis (4) in the axial direction of the roll unit, and an internal pressure branching guidepath (6) made of low-density porous sheet material (7), or a space communicating with the internal pressure action space, provided in the radial direction of the roll unit.
