PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method by which a metallic porous body having high porosity and high strength can be manufactured.;SOLUTION: The method comprises steps of mixing metal powder and inorganic or organic spacer-material powder as a void-forming agent which burns out on heating, pressing the resultant powder mixture, applying heating up to the burning-out temperature of the spacer-material powder to burn out the spacer material and carrying out sintering treatment at a temperature higher than the above temperature to sinter the metal powder. In this method for manufacturing the high-strength metallic porous body, metal powder prepared by adding metal fiber to spherical metal powder is used as the above metal powder. Moreover, irregular-shaped powder having columnar or fibrous slender shape is used as the above spacer-material powder.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
