The present invention is a method for producing a carboxylic acid amide by hydrolysis of the carboxylic acid nitriles in the presence of a catalyst comprising manganese dioxide, the catalyst comprising manganese dioxide having a pH in the range of 6.0 to 11.0 the reaction mixture was added, relates to a method which comprises carrying out the hydrolysis in the presence of an oxidizing agent. The present invention further comprises a hydrolysis step, such as the method, a method for producing an alkyl (meth) acrylate.
