PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency power amplifier capable of accurately detecting a phase of output power even during high-output and large-power operation and controlling the detected phase to any arbitrary phase. PSOLUTION: A high frequency power amplifier includes: an amplifier for amplifying a high frequency power signal received via an input terminal; a quadrature detection unit for quadrature-detecting the high frequency power signal output from the amplifier on the basis of the high frequency power signal input to the amplifier to output in-phase and quadrature detection output signals; a phase detection unit for detecting a phase of the high frequency power signal output from the amplifier on the basis of the in-phase and quadrature detection output signals to output phase information; a phase control unit which generates a control signal for changing the phase on the basis of setting phase information, received from the outside, indicating the phase to be set and the phase information output from the phase detection unit; and a phase shifter provided between the input terminal and the amplifier for changing the phase of the high frequency power signal input to the amplifier on the basis of the control signal.
