PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a plurality of images with different depth in a single imaging operation, and simplify the structure of an imaging apparatus and reduce the costs thereof. PSOLUTION: Light passing through an objective lens 1 is split into two optical paths by a beam splitter 2a. One optical path passes through mirrors 3a to 3c and a polarizer 4a for transmitting only light polarized in one direction, and the other optical path passes through mirrors 3d to 3f and a polarizer 4b for transmitting light polarized in the other direction. The two optical paths of light are combined at a beam splitter 2b to form images on an imaging element 7. While the mirrors on one optical path is moved to adjust the optical path length such that the two optical paths have different optical path lengths, light emitting elements 11a and 11b of a lighting means 10 having different polarization directions due to polarizers 3a and 3b having perpendicular polarization directions are sequentially actuated at a time interval to provide images focused in different positions on a subject.
