PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply capacity calculating method, a power supply capacity calculating apparatus and a power supply capacity calculating program for automatically calculating a power supply capacity in an input/output controller such as a general-purpose I/O controller, reduces errors and enhancing the efficiency. PSOLUTION: A basic capacity library L1 for describing the power supply capacity as a basic capacity required for an operation of an I/O module per I/O module and an additive capacity library L2 for describing the power supply capacity as an additive capacity i.e. required power supplied from the I/O module to a device per device are stored in a storage apparatus 10D. The device connected to the general-purpose I/O controller is registered. The I/O module optimized for a connection to the device is assigned to the registered device. The basic capacity of a power supply system required for the I/O module is acquired from the basic capacity library L1 per assigned I/O module. The additive capacity required as the power supplied to the device to which the I/O module is assigned, is acquired from the additive capacity library L2 per assigned I/O module. Power supply capacities per I/O module, base module and base module system (per power supply system) are calculated based on the acquired basic capacity and additive capacity.
