When the centralized meter reading system for the water meter and the receiver

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the check of a wrong connection between a city water meter and the receiver of a centralized meter reading panel, the disconnection of a transmission line and a short circuit when the city water meter is installed at a multiple dwelling house.;SOLUTION: A permanent magnet is put close to the front face of a receiver 2 and a lead switch 2d is actuated. A microcomputer 2b detects actuation of the switch 2d and transmits a start signal to an electronic water meter 2M via a transmission line 2A. The meter 2M sends a telegraphic message back to the microcomputer 2b in response to the received start signal. Then the microcomputer 2b identifies a meter ID number out of the replied telegraphic message and displays the ID number on a liquid crystal display 2a for 30 seconds. Thereafter, the display of ID number is reset to the display of a flow rate. Thus, it is possible to know whether the connected water meter is correct or not from the ID number displayed for 30 seconds.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
