PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extended syndiotactic polystyrene elastomer block copolymer which exhibits elastomeric characteristics, has high mechanical strengths and a unique softness, and can be used in high-temp. applications. ;SOLUTION: This compsn. is prepd. by extending a block copolymer having at least one king of elastomer block and at least one kind of syndiotactic polystyrene block with an extender. The compsn. contains 100 pts.wt. polymer component comprising 1-80wt.% syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) blocks and 99-20wt.% rubbery elastomer blocks and at least 30 pts.wt. extender contg. an extender oil or an org. material having a number average mol.wt. of 20,000 or lower. Since a compsn. prepd. by extending the block copolymer with an extender exhibits the characteristics of a thermoplastic elastomer and a unique softness, it is useful in high-temp. applications.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
