PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading and recording apparatus which improves operability in loading/unloading a process cartridge for image formation and further suppresses the elevation of an internal temperature of the apparatus caused by fixing heat. PSOLUTION: An image reading and recording apparatus which forms an image on a recording sheet S by loading a process cartridge 12 into an apparatus body 1, includes a scanner unit 13 for exposing a photo-sensitive drum 12a in accordance with a picture signal, a heat roller couple 15 for fixing a toner image formed on the recording sheet S, and a reading unit 3 for reading a document D. The heat roller couple 15 is disposed above a cartridge mounting space 17, and a cartridge loading/unloading space 19 for loading/unloading the process cartridge 12 is disposed between the heat roller couple 15 and the scanner unit 13.
