PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new industrially useful asymmetric synthesis catalyst element, and to provide a new asymmetric epoxidation catalyst using the catalyst element and capable of being stably recycled in the atmosphere.;SOLUTION: An optimally active 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol trimer derivative represented by formula (5) or (6) is produced from an optically active 1,1'-2-naphthol derivative represented by formula (1) or (2).
