PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel proposed-substance-for-hair-growth-tonic evaluating method using an FGS-5S, and an external remedy for hair growth containing a hair growth tonic provided by the evaluating method.;SOLUTION: A proposed substance of the hair growth tonic is dosed to a cell of an animal, and an increase in an existing amount of a fibroblast growth factor 5S in the cell of the animal after the proposed substance is dosed is detected to evaluate the proposed substance for the hair growth tonic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
