PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbon black particle powder which has excellent dispersibility, fluidity and heat resistance, and to provide a coating and a resin composition which each contains the carbon black particle powder.;SOLUTION: This modified carbon black particle powder comprising carbon black particles to whose surfaces oxide superfine particles or hydroxide superfine particles containing Al or Si are adhered is characterized by having a mol.wt.-dependent parameter α value of ≥0.35. A method for producing the modified carbon black particle powder is characterized by comprising adjusting the pH value of an aqueous suspension containing carbon black particles, adding an Al or Si-containing compound aqueous solution to the suspension, adjusting the pH value of the mixture to a value near to neutrality to quickly precipitate the Al or Si hydroxide ultra fine particles, filtering the precipitates to obtain the mixture comprising the carbon black particles and the hydroxide superfine particles, and then subjecting the mixture to a compression-crushing treatment to make oxide superfine particles or hydroxide superfine particles containing Al or Si adhere to the particle surfaces of the carbon black particles.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
