PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately specify a fault point to simplify survey work in a method of surveying the fault point by applying high tension pulse voltage to an overhead distribution line.;SOLUTION: An electrifying device 1 applies voltage to an electrifying point of the distribution line, and the voltage and current at the electrifying point are measured. A fault point survey arithmetic unit 2 obtains the measurement impedance of the distribution line from the measured values of the voltage and current of the electrifying point, takes out an imaginary part of the impedance as the measurement inductance and divides the measurement inductance by inductance of unit length of the distribution line to specify the distance from the electrifying point to the fault point. The method includes narrowing to one fault point by carrying out distance specification twice or more from different points to the distribution line with a branch; formulating two simultaneous equations from time series data acquired by voltage and current measurement and solving them to determine the measurement inductance; and specifying the fault point by subtracting a sound phase current from a fault phase current to correct the air-to-ground electrostatic capacity of the distribution line.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
