PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a new route retrieval from being performed, when a route retrieval is not required during route guidance of a navigation system.;SOLUTION: When the navigation system receives, for example, traffic information from a traffic information distribution center for distributing present traffic information, the navigation system retrieves a route from a present location to a destination, through the use of the received traffic information and performs route guidance through the use of the retrieved route. When a new route retrieval is not required (such as arrival at the vicinity of the destination, during route guidance, during right or left turns, etc.), traffic information is not received, nor a new route retrieval is performed, even if the traffic information is received.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
