PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving apparatus which drives two lens groups and has short length in an optical axis direction.;SOLUTION: A first motor 37 for driving the focus lens group positioned on an object side is arranged adjacently beside a focus lens holder 25. A second motor 42 for driving the zoom lens group positioned on an imaging surface side is arranged adjacently beside a zoom lens holder 27. A first pinion gear 38 attached to the first motor 37 and a second pinion gear 43 attached to the second motor 42 are positioned on the same plane (A) vertical to the optical axis. Thus, a distance B from the imaging surface to the first motor 37 positioned on the object side can be made shorter than a distance C up to the focus lens holder 25 positioned on the imaging surface side. Further, the distance B can be made shorter than a distance D up to the zoom lens holder 27' positioned on the object side. Consequently, a focus driving unit positioned on the object side is arranged close to the imaging surface, then, the miniaturization of the imaging apparatus is attained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
