PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking method which is highly precise even under the condition that is not good at an area tracking method by a feature point. PSOLUTION: A moving body tracking device follows an image input procedure of selecting a frame from a group of frames constituting a moving picture and inputting it, an area specification receiving procedure of acquiring an area to be tracked from a storage means, a feature point tracking procedure of calculating an area to be tracked in a current frame, a tracking deciding procedure of deciding which of extraction processing for the area to be tracked by a feature point and extraction processing for the area to be tracked by color information is performed, a color information tracking procedure of calculating an area to be tracked in the current frame according to the color information, and an area position updating procedure of outputting the area to be tracked in the current frame to the storage means.
