PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a light emitting glass which has excellent thermal resistance, chemical durability and mechanical strength, and which exhibits strong light emission when it is irradiated with ultraviolet rays or the like, and to provide the light emitting glass and a method for utilizing the light emitting glass.;SOLUTION: The light emitting glass is produced by a production method including a first process for adsorbing at least one kind of metal element selected from elements belonging to groups 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8, 1B, 2B, and 4B in the periodic table onto a porous glass, and a second process for firing the porous glass obtained in the first process and containing at least one of the metal elements in air or in a reducing atmosphere, has excellent thermal resistance, chemical durability, and mechanical strength, and can exhibit strong light emission when it is irradiated with ultraviolet rays or the like.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
