PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of simply and economically controlling a space between nip lines in a drafting unit of a drawing frame, and to provide the unit.;SOLUTION: This method for controlling the space between the nip lines in the drafting unit of the drawing frame for slivers comprises conducting operations (a) to (d) in a state that the slivers are inserted, wherein the drafting unit is so structured that the unit has at least two pairs of drafting rolls, at least one of the pairs of the rolls is arraneged so as to be controllable, and each of the pairs of the rolls of the drafting unit is composed of at least one driven lower roll and at least one upper roll which is placed on the lower roll in such a menner that the upper roll is lifted up and separated from the lower roll when it is subjected to the operations, and the operations (a) to (d) comprise: (a) the upper rolls are unplaced or lifted up and separated; (b) a fastening means of at least one of the lower rolls is in an unlocked state; (c) the fastening means is controlled to have a desired space between the nip lines by using a moving unit; and (d) the fastening means is again locked, .;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
