Fibre drafting device with entry roll nip - and arrangement to control depth of roving in dependence on width as defined by the nip

Fibre drafting device includes a pair of entry rolls through the nip of which a roving passes into a drafting roll assembly. The depth of the roving passing to the drafting roll assembly is adjustable in an axial direction of the entry rollers in dependence on the mean width of the roving as determined by the separation of the entry roller. The device can be adjusted so that rovings of different characteristics and widths can be uniformly drafted by the same drafting device.
