A method and apparatus for compiling data about the use of programs being used on a computer system by at least one user is disclosed. The method includes running a task logger on said computer system to monitor the action of each said user on their workstation to determine the use by each said user during a predetermined period and a text summarizer to provide a description of the content of said use.
