The invention concerns the field of target acquisition systems. It consists of a target acquisition system designed to be mounted on an aircraft or aerostat, comprising an optronic sensing channel including a detector (6) and servo means for controlling the sight line of the optronic sensing channel, the target acquisition device (13) also comprising a star sensing channel including a detector (8), means for resetting the sight line of the optronic sensing channel on the sight line of the star sensing channel, and the sight line of the star sensing channel being mechanically integral with the sight line of the optronic sensing channel. The inventive target acquisition device can be used in surveillance aircraft, in target trajectory estimation systems, and in anti-target defence systems.
