The objective of developing this device is to prevent the increasing the security threat of vehicles by installing device invented by us. The complete device contains GSM kit, AtMega 32 Microcontroller, RS-232 Interfacing assembly, A DC supply backup (for stationary vehicle). This device can be operated entirely by the use of proper SMS by authenticate user only. This method of using SMS to control the device is by decoding the SMS in PDU format by microcontroller using AT-commands. Here the embedded system along with mobile is use to prevent the vehicle from being stolen and also if the vehicle is stolen then it can be traced to its location. Mobile technology is the fastest growing communication mode. In today"s mobile technology we all are acquainted with Short Message Service (SMS) offered. In this project we have used this service along with embedded system for fulfillment of our purpose. The technology used in this project is the combination of hardware (motors, Relay and embedded parts) and software (AT commands and program for microcontroller). This paper elaborates how we have used the Protocol Data Unit (PDU) format of SMS with the help of microcontroller to control and track the experimental setup. To track the stolen vehicle the embedded module in system sends appropriate AT commands to the GSM kit in the vehicle. In response to the AT command the GSM kit sends back its cell id. This cell id is then sent as an SMS to the owner of the Our embedded system can be fixed in any vehicle to control and track that vehicle just by sending SMS by authorized persons. This system is cost effective, reliable, user friendly and can be used in remote areas.
