A WATER TREATMENT UNIT FOR REDUCING THE CONCENTRATION OF IRON AND/OR ARSENICIONS IN FEED WATER

The present invention relates to a water treatment unit for reducing the concentration of iron and arsenic ions in feed water. It comprises of an aeration system with cover, four chambers viz. sedimentation chamber, up flow filtration chamber, gravity flow filtration chamber and filtered water chamber. These chambers are housed in the cylindrical main body and separated by partition. The chambers are connected by openings for flow of water. The unit also contains a charge holder, a doser for lime, sludge or backwash outlet valves and a filtered water outlet. This plant uses iron oxide coated gravel as catalyst, iron oxide coated sand, activated carbon and iron fillings as adsorbent and sand as filter media.
